Finally...I'm a Marathoner!

Yay I did it! When I was in undergrad I always said I wanted to run a marathon when I was done playing tennis & I finally did it! It was a great experience & it was even better that I did it with friends! They are such a great support and we helped each other keep going when we thought we couldn't go any further. My goal was to run the whole 26.2 without stopping (except for a drink at the water stations) & we did it! Two of my girl friends Bridget & Breck from Mesa drove all the way out to the marathon to support me, they are the best! The drove by us at mile 24 to cheer us on & it was just what I needed to get me through the last 2 miles! It was a great feeling crossing the finish line! Andy ran an awesome half-marathon time that day! He is quite the speedster. He says next time he's going to run the full 26.2! Now, out of the goodness of my heart, and lack of shame I am going to share with you the most hilarious picture you will ever see of me, at least I hope there won't be any worse ones in the future. Andy & I saw it and laughed for at least 10 minutes. Feel free to laugh and make fun of me, if you don't something must be wrong with you!

So, the night before the marathon we were
at my mom's house and
I went into her closet in search of some old clothes I
could wear in the morning when the race started and then throw them on the side of the road once I warmed up. In the corner of the closet I saw a very bright jump suit from 1980 with tags and all calling my name! It was perfectly hilarious, ugly, and bright...exactly what I was looking for. So I told my mom I was going to wear it and throw it on the side of the road since it is over 25 years old and still has never been worn. but my sweet and foolish mother was adomont that it would come back in style one of these days and she did not want to throw it away because she thinks she will wear it some day! I proceeded o laugh at her and tell her that I will never let her wear such a hideous outfit. Then Andy put it on and started stretching in the
family room like he was preparing
for the race...he cracks me up!

Snowboarding Vintage 2005

After spending Christmas up in Washington and spending a good part of that time on the mountain snowboarding in all the fresh powder, Ive really been having a hard time taking my mind off of snowboarding. Jen loved snowboarding, and learned really quick. We got her a board and all she needs now is her own coat and boots and she will be set. We didnt really get any good pictures of us snowboarding, so im throwing this video on here of some clips of me snowboarding. They are from back in 2005 (my first season snowboarding),it was shot on a digital camera and as you can tell my buddy Tyson that filmed got kinda cold and was shaking for some of them.

White Chrismas!

This year Andy and I spent the holidays in Washington with his family & I loved every minute of it! I thought I loved my in-laws before but I love them even more after spending 17 days with them! I have never had a Christmas with snow on the ground, it was so much fun! My father in-law taught me how to snowboard, Andy & I went sledding with his friends, we ran in the snow (yup still training for the marathon coming up in February), built ginger bread houses and played Wii. We even got a chance to take a trip over to Spokane to visit my roomates from college. I love everyone in Andy's family so much, especially our niece Lousea who we finally got to meet for the first time, she is a doll. Oh and I can't forget grandma, I have never laughed so much in my life...I wish everyone could experience grandma Taylor and her dancing, off the wall comments and phrases! We flew back to California on the 31st & just a few hours later my mom arrived with 5 of our nieces and nephews. We all rang in the New Year together (actually we tricked them into believing it was midnight at 11 0'clock because we were so tired from traveling..yes we are officially old and boring!) On New Year's Day we took the kids to Mountain High for some extremely californized sledding. The kids thought it was great! It was the most snow they's ever seen being from Az. After being in Washington I have decided I will never deprive our kids of a true winter with sledding, snowmen, and of course my new favorite sport...snowboarding!

Dreams Do Come True

Let me start this one out my stating that this is Andy writing this blog entry, not Jen. I have been encouraged and invited several times by Jen to contribute to out blog, but I never was motivated to. We dont have kids to write about, and I really only use our blog to check out pictures and videos of my neice Louesa (I havent meet her yet in person). I just really havent had anything to blog about... untill now. It just so happened that Jen and I both had the day off today, and I some how managed to convince her that we should head over to Anaheim and take a tour of Angels stadium.
It was great, I felt like little kid all over again. We got to walk through the clubhouse, sit in the dugout, visit the press boxes, and so much more. We were pretty lucky too, because they were filming a commercial on the field for Howards Electronics, and Mike Scioscia and a couple of the players were there. We only saw Macier Izturis, he said hello to us as he was walking by. Its funny that something as simple as a $3 tour of a baseball stadium could make me so happy. Christmas came early for me this year.

To make the day even better, after we finished the tour we headed over to my new favorite restaurant, Fuddruckers, to grab lunch. Growing up in Washington, I never got to experience Fuddruckers and it wasnt untill this past Thanksgiving that my Brother in Law, Mike, took me there, and It was a match made in heaven. Well thats it for my first blog, hopefully I didnt bore you, but if you are on here reading my blog you must have been bored in the first place.

Tagged!

Ahh Megan tagged me, I've never liked being it! I'm a bit crazy so I'll just share the highlights!

1. My maiden name is Jolley and since I can remember, my friends combined my first name with my last name to make it jenjolley. Friends use to call my house and ask for jenjolley, yell my name at school and say "hi jenjolley". Everyone always said my name had a good ring to it and it was fun to say so they just combined it! Finally, in college a girl asked me what my last name was and I said um Jolley and she said so your name is jenjolley jolley! Now sometimes I forget my new last name and won't respond unless I hear jenjolley.
2. I have a freakishly weird obsession with the Osmond family...well actually just Donny & Marie. Yeah I know they really are not of my generation, but I fell in love with them when the new Donny & Marie show came out when I was in 8th grade. I would rush home just so I could watch it! I love that they are Mormon and have what seems to be the perfect family and I wanted to be part of it! Plus they totally have the most perfect teeth and smile. Now that Marie is on Dancing with the Stars I can't stop watching and my stalker behaviors have returned. When I found out they were going to be on Oprah on Friday I had a melt down knowing that I would be working and would have to miss the show! Can you say PSYCHO!
3. I have played tennis nearly everyday of my life since 3rd grade, until I started PA school (sad)! It literally was my life and I loved every minute of it! I was lucky enough to get a scholarship to Washington, so I went and spent four years basically living on a tennis court. The best part of it all I was meeting my wonderful husband Andy!
4. I am probably the only girl to ever get in a fight on the tennis court and get it broken up by an umpire! Tennis is usually seen as a quiet, proper sport but I really have never seen it that way! Sports just aren't fun unless there is a little blood!
5. I am extremely competitve in everything I do whether it be sports, card games or school. I honestly can turn anything into a competition. I really hate to loose! If I have ever offended any of you with my competitve nature, please don't take it personal and forgive me!
6. I am a wild sleeper! I talk, laugh, cry, yell and pour water on myself in my sleep! Yes, its true one night I woke up screaming because I was soaking wet and then I looked at my hands and I was holding a glass of water that I dumped all over my self. Poor Andy, nearly every morning when I wake up he tells me something weird that I had done in my sleep that night! All I can say is at least I'm fun to sleep with! (oops, that sounds bad doesn't it?)
7. I absolutely love giving presents to people! I love it so much in fact that I always have to give it to them early or better yet just tell them what I got them! I can't help it, I just get so excited I can never wait unitl their actual birthday or Christmas! Andy gets so mad at me beacuse I always want him to open up his gifts a few days early!

Santa Barbara weekend!

Andy and I went with our friends to Santa Barbara this past weekend to run the half marathon we've been training for! The weather was perfect and the race went right along the coast...it was so beautiful! We had a good time, but we are really sore and tired today! Andy did so good, he ran the 13.1 miles in 90 minutes. You would think he's been a runner all of his life but he acually just took it up about 6 months ago. We have been really busy these past few weeks moving and getting settled into our house. We really like having a bigger place! Andy celebrated his 25th birthday last Thursday and got the best gift ever when the director of the Physical Therapy department here in Cali called to tell him he had been accepted into their program! We are so excited, now we just need to make a decision if we should stay here or journey all the way to Michigan for the next 3 years!
